This discussion walks the customer through making the right choice rather than be upsold to the largest possible product.  Sometimes, there is too much of a good thing and this is a prime example. This customer wanted to create a video wall using an ambient light rejecting material. However, ALR materials are specially designed to direct ambient light away from a viewer’s field of vision and it can only work from the right viewing distance and the right viewing angle.  The video and article links provide a lot more insight regarding this.

*The discussion below is based on actual chat transcripts with the omission of any personal/confidential material to protect the customer’s privacy. An example in this case is to change the contact’s identification name/number to “Customer” or a generic name.

Transcripts:

[17:50] Customer: Hello

[17:50]        Rick: Hello, how may I help you?

[17:51] Customer: Yeah, I'm interested in purchasing Aeon 135 inch cinegrey3d

[17:51] Customer: If my room width is about 124 to 125 inches, would that work out?

[17:52] Customer: Or do you think i need a wider space for installation?

[17:54]        Rick: the frame width and height is 118.7" x 67.1"

[17:56] Customer: Is that with the metal frame?

[17:56]        Rick: This  is the overall size the material is wrap over the frame.

[18:01] Customer: So, do you think with 124", I can still install the screen?

[18:06]        Rick: You will have about 4 inches of space to install this frame size so it will just barely fit in. Also, you can go with the 120 inch frame and this will be about 12 inches less in width.  Also, it is important that your screen fits in according to optimal viewing distances.  Here is a video that tells you more about it. https://elitescreens.com/elitetube/screen_size_edu.mp4

[18:11] Customer: Is 4-inch clearness enough to install the screen? I would like to get the biggest screen I can get to fit the room.

[18:12]        Rick: It will fit and I get it why you want it as larger than life as possible but also consider the performance specs of the material. Ambient light rejecting materials are great but   in order for it to work, you must be viewing from the right angle at the right distance or you will have cold spots from being too far off axis.  Here is a document comparing matte white and ALR materials https://elitescreens.com/front/front/newsdetail/news/351  My strong recommendation is that you not make this particular material into a full wall display.  It just won’t deliver what you are trying to achieve.

[18:18] Customer: ok cool bro, one more thing. If I have a window on the wall, do you have any suggestions on how I can hang the screen? A friend of mine suggested a tv mount

[18:18] Customer: Or do you guys sell the accessories to hang the screen for this particular situation?

[18:35]        Rick: I recommend buying a blackout shade online.  Direct sunlight will destroy projection screen materials over time.

[18:35]        Rick: Regarding the installation part, that is easy.  There is a brochure included showing you how to set it up. Here is also a video showing you how to assemble and install the screen: https://elitescreens.com/elitetube/aeon_assembly.mp4  .  Here is also an article and video on the proper way to install your projector and screen. https://elitescreens.com/front/front/newsdetail/news/322

[18:38] Customer: Cool man.  Thanks again for the help.

[18:39]        Rick: My pleasure.  Thank you for choosing Elite Screens.
