Evanesce B Series

Elite’s MaxWhite® FG and Spectra White FG are very comparable as they both are self-supporting matte white front projection screen surfaces with fiberglass backing. Having a fiberglass backing is beneficial as the embedded fiber glass improves rigidity which results in a more stiff material. Thus, the fiberglass backing provides the flattest possible surface a non-tensioned screen can offer. Additionally, the fiber glass backing eliminates any side curling non-tensioned materials are susceptible to, especially under cold temperatures. Both the MaxWhite® FG and SpectraWhite FG will provide an excellent quality image in light controlled environments. The main difference between the materials is that the MaxWhite® FG utilizes a more neutral white material for better white levels. Both the Spectra White FG and MaxWhite® FG have viewing angles of 180° (90° left and right). The wide diffusion uniformity on both the materials maintain luminance levels throughout the entire surface. The MaxWhite® FG is also offered on many more of or products, whereas the SpectraWhite FG is solely available on the Starling and Starling Tension. The Spectra White FG material is also slightly thicker than the MaxWhite® FG.

Elite Screens’ MaxWhite® and MaxWhite® FG are excellent screen materials for front projection presentations. The materials have a multi-layer weave and textured surface coating that offer perfect diffusion uniformity, color reproduction, and black and white contrast. Both have a 1.1 gain that allows for 180° viewing angles (90° left and right) and are black-backed which avoids light penetration. They are also easy to clean, mildew resistant, and GreenGuard® Gold UL 2818 certified. The key difference between the MaxWhite® and MaxWhite® FG is that the MaxWhite® FG has a fiber glass backing. This is beneficial as the embedded fiber glass improves rigidity which results in a more stiff material. Thus, the MaxWhite® FG provides the flattest possible surface a non-tensioned screen can offer. Additionally, the fiber glass backing eliminates any side curling non-tensioned materials are susceptible to, especially under cold temperatures. Lastly, the MaxWhite® FG is also flame retardant and complies with NFPA 701 Standards.

Tension material provides a flatter screen surface and for better uniformity and even light distribution without waving or curving on the projection surface. These problems could be caused by temperature variations in multiple layer materials. Newer non-tensioned materials such as our MaxWhite® or MaxWhite® FG have greatly reduced occurrences of this flaw to the point of arguably matching its flatness in some cases. Some prefer non-tensioned due to aesthetics but tension still generally has superior flatness.

The viewing angle of the MaxWhite® material is 180°.

The Evanesce B and Evanesce Tension B Series’ differ from the regular series in that the B Series were mainly designed for home theater applications. With that in mind, we focused on the most popular aspect ratios and diagonal sizes used in a home theater setting. We also reduced the size of the housing and motor. By focusing on fewer models and by reducing the amount of materials used for the housing unit, we were able to cut down on production costs which we in turn passed along to the consumer. The Evanesce and Evanesce Tension were designed more for commercial applications such as conference rooms and auditoriums. Nevertheless, the screens can also be installed in dedicated home theaters. The Evanesce and Evanesce Tension feature a wider array of aspect ratios and sizes, have a faster motor, and utilize a more robust housing unit. All series come with a complete remote kit and have hardware accessories that allow for either a below or above ceiling installation (excluding Evanesce Plus).

All of our Evanesce Series in-ceiling screens (Evanesce, Evanesce B, Evanesce Tab-Tension, Evanesce Tab-Tension B, and Evanesce Plus) include installation hardware kits for ABOVE and BELOW.  The kit includes four long vertical brackets to allow the screen to be suspended from any above structure.

By exposing the red and green wires of the provided trigger, connect a 9-volt battery to the bare wires according to their polarity with the screen plugged in to the wall outlet. Once the wires make contact with the battery’s terminals, the screen will drop. Releasing the voltage from the battery will make the screen rise automatically. This indicates that the trigger and screen are functioning properly. Please check with your power source’s manufacturer for further assistance.   If the screen does not drop when applying the voltage with the battery, the next step would be to test the screen’s circuit board. Do this by plugging in the provided wall box and pressing the DOWN button. If the screen drops, then you may need a replacement trigger. Most of Elite’s electric screen products are compatible with Harmony remotes and are in their database. The only electric screens series that are not compatible with Harmony remotes are the Starling and Starling Tab-Tension Series (Versions 1 and 2). New Elite Screens series may not appear in the Harmony database, but you can simply select the VMAX2 series as the IR codes are identical for all series. No, your screen’s Top Black border has been set to deploy to its full extent. Attempting to increase will damage the motor and void your warranty with Elite Screens.

There are a few possible things you could check:

1. Make sure your wall plug has power and that the screen is properly plugged in.
2. If the screen works well with the wall switch but not with the remote controls, ensure that fresh alkaline batteries are installed in the remote controls.
3. Check your screen’s internal fuse. (Please call our Tech Support for location of fuse before tampering with the screen.)
4. Our Home2, CineTension2, Kestrel, Raptor and VMAX Plus 3/4 screens feature a tubular motor equipped with a Thermal Relay.  This feature will automatically shut off the screen should your motor become too hot, thus preventing overheating of the motor.  To correct this, simply leave the screen alone for 20-30 minutes and try again.

No, Elite manual and electric projection screens are not designed for use as a window curtain and should never be exposed to direct sunlight.  Prolonged exposure to solar radiation will destroy synthetic materials and such damage is not covered by our standard warranty.
