The Kestrel Tab-Tension CLR® is a motorized floor-rising projector screen with Ceiling Ambient light rejecting capabilities. It is suited for ultra-short throw projection applications in meeting or living room spaces. It is the ideal non-invasive solution for environments with bright room lighting or if wall-ceiling installations are impractical. Under normal lighting conditions, matte white screens present a milky, washed-out image. The Kestrel Tab-Tension CLR® allows a larger than life display with “TV-Screen” brightness to appear at the press of a button regardless if the lights are on or off.

The StarBright CLR® material is configured in a tab-tensioned format to ensure a taut and flat projection surface suitable for Ultra Short throw Projectors.

Electric Floor-Rising Screens FAQs

Q: How do I know if my projector is compatible with the ZSP-TR02 (Floor Rise)
Q: How do I know if my projector is compatible with the ZSP-TR02 (Floor Rise)

Check your projector’s documentation to find out if your projector has a 5 volt or 12 volt trigger output.  If it does then the ZSP-TR02 is compatible with your projector.

Q: Will the Universal Wireless 5-12V Projector Trigger ZU12V work with my Electric/Motorized screen?

A: The ZU12V is compatible only with Electric/Motorized drop down screens using Ver 2.0 or 3.0 circuit boards. You can typically find this information on your Radio Frequency remote control.
Electric/Motorized Screens that are not compatible:

• Floor-Rising Electric/Motorized screens
• All Yard Master Electric/Motorized screen
• Drop down Electric/Motorized screens

Q: Where can I find the wired RJ-45 5-12 volt trigger adaptor pin-layout?
Q. Where can I find the wired RJ-45 5-12 volt trigger adaptor pin-layout?

The adaptor can easily be made by using a CAT-5 networking cable and a RJ-45 networking connector. See image below and please note that the RJ-45 is exclusively designed to be compatible with only a  projector’s trigger output. Any other type of device’s trigger output that you choose to  utilize with our product is to your own discretion and is not covered under warranty should there be any malfunction. Q: Why does my electric screen no longer function?
Q: Why does my electric screen no longer function?

There are a few possible things you could check:

1. Make sure your wall plug has power and that the screen is properly plugged in.
2. If the screen works well with the wall switch but not with the remote controls, ensure that fresh alkaline batteries are installed in the remote controls.
3. Check your screen’s internal fuse. (Please call our Tech Support for location of fuse before tampering with the screen.)
4. Our Home2, CineTension2, Kestrel, Raptor and VMAX Plus 3/4 screens feature a tubular motor equipped with a Thermal Relay.  This feature will automatically shut off the screen should your motor become too hot, thus preventing overheating of the motor.  To correct this, simply leave the screen alone for 20-30 minutes and try again.

StarBright CLR® – Screen Material FAQ’s

Q: I plan to purchase a CLR®/ CLR®2/ CLR® 3 material, but want to use a ceiling mounted UST projector. Can I flip and install the CLR/CLR2/CLR3 upside down to make this work?
Q: I plan to purchase a CLR®/ CLR®2/ CLR® 3 material, but want to use a ceiling mounted UST projector. Can I flip and install the CLR/CLR2/CLR3 upside down to make this work?

Ceiling mounted UST projector will not work with CLR®/ CLR® 2/ CLR® 3 flipped upside down because the material is specifically oriented to reject “absorb” lighting from above. In addition it is designed to properly accept tabletop mounted UST projector light and direct it to the viewer’s sweet spot. If the material is flipped upside down and there is overhead light, that light will not be rejected but instead reflected which would degrade the picture quality. In addition, the ceiling mounted UST projector light will still not likely align properly with the human eye to deliver the ideal “sweet-spot” picture performance.

Q: Can I use StarBright CLR® for a standard throw or short throw projector?
Q: Can I use StarBright CLR® for a standard throw or short throw projector?

No, the microstructure of the StarBright CLR® requires a minimum projector lens throw ratio 0.3x the image width

Q: I have a new UST projector in my multi-purpose room with very good light control. Considering to buy a StarBright CLR®/CLR® 2/CLR® 3 or CineGrey 3D/5D® screen. What is the difference?
Q: I have a new UST projector in my multi-purpose room with very good light control. Considering to buy a StarBright CLR®/CLR® 2/CLR® 3 or CineGrey 3D/5D® screen. What is the difference?

CLR®/CLR®2/CLR®3 and CineGrey 3D/5D are Ceiling Ambient Light Rejection Screen fabrics, however the CLR fabrics are especially designed for Ultra Short Throw (UST) Projectors to reject ambient light. The CineGrey 3D/5D are typically made for standard “long-throw” projectors and require the projected light (angle in) to reflect (angle out) at the same angle to the viewer’s eyes, “sweet spot”.

Q: How about using any “CLR/ALR” (Cinegrey®3D/5D or Starbright CLR®/CLR® 2/CLR® 3) with a ceiling-installed UST/ST projector?
Q: How about using any “CLR/ALR” (Cinegrey®3D/5D or Starbright CLR®/CLR® 2/CLR® 3) with a ceiling-installed UST/ST projector?

Ceiling mounted UST projectors will not even work with Starbright CLR® materials because the material is specifically orientated to reject “ceiling light” or any type of lighting from above. This means that the screen will reject any overhead light, even from a compatible projector. Theoretically, you could invert the Starbright CLR® material to match with an inverted UST projector but the alignment will still not likely align properly with the human eye to deliver the ideal “sweet-spot” picture performance.

Q: I own an Aeon CLR/CLR2/CLR 3 fixed frame screen and notice a halo effect/light spill around the UST screen. How can I remedy this?
Q: I own an Aeon CLR/CLR2/CLR 3 fixed frame screen and notice a halo effect/light spill around the UST screen. How can I remedy this?

The steep light from an Ultra-Short Throw projector causes the halo effect and can spill light around the frame. There is no way to solve it, but it can be mitigated by painting your wall a darker color, or putting a velvet border around the screen frame.
