"Great screen. Love the frameless look."

I love the frameless design. Assembly was quite easy and hanging with the two brackets extremely easy. With only two brackets to worry about, leveling was spot on right away.

The screen got crinkled a bit during assembly, but the micro creases have been working their way out over the past few days. I am using it without the black velvet and love the look. One downside of the design is that the screen is very tight up top, but gradually pulls away from the wall since there are no included brackets for the bottom. They really should include four brackets. I found some mirror brackets at lowes that pretty much did the trick and Elite is sending me two more of their brackets which are definitely more heavy duty.

All in all this screen is great and a bargain to boot. And I was able to go from a 103" to a 110" due to the frameless design.

"Impressive...most impressive"

This screen is excellent. Though I have a dim room and control over ambient light I went with this option because of the CineGrey 3D® material has a 1.2 gain (which boosts brightness) and is ambient light rejecting. My projector is an Epson 2045 which pumps out 2200 white/2200 color lumens (according to Epson). Because of the material's color (grey), it helps boost black levels. If you have an LCD-based projector, which sometimes gets a bad rap as struggling with black levels, this screen can help. I was worried about that but when the picture was up on the screen the black levels looked fine.

The screen basically looks like a giant LED. One thing to consider too, is that though this is tad pricey, having a great screen can last you a long time. It is much more likely that you'll be rotating the projector than the screen in years to come. Thus, it's a wise investment if you are heading down the projector route.

This is a fantastic screen! We were able to assemble our 120-inch diagonal screen quite easily, following the included directions. It took two of us just about 20 minutes, mainly because we were taking our time and being very deliberate with each step. The workmanship is superb. Everything lined up perfectly. And hanging it took just a little bit of care, as the clips are very close to the wall. Since we were able to hit two studs, we only used one screw per clip. The material reflects our projector very well. It looks great in a dark room as well as with some ambient light in the room. Overall, we couldn't be happier with our purchase.

"Move to 2.35:1 screen has been awesome..."

After purchasing a new projector that allowed me to memorize zoom and focus, etc, for different aspect ratios, I decided to move from a 106" 16 by 9 retractable screen to this 125" 2.35:1 screen. I can now zoom most movies out to fill the height and width of the screen (no black bars) since most of the time we watch movies in our home theater. We don't watch cable/TV at all in this room.

All I can say is... WOW!!! The immersion factor when watching epic movies on this scale has been incredible. I could never go back. The only downside is that normal 16 by 9 movies no longer fill the screen on each side. But we can mask that if needed.

The screen came in a reasonably small box about four feet long and was well packed... no damage at all. The frame is twice as long and has to be assembled with basic tools. I found this to be very intuitive overall and took about 90 minutes because I wanted to be very careful with sharp edges around the screen material. The screen itself is held on with heavy duty Velcro around the entire edge on the back side and does a great job of holding the material tight and wrinkle free. Overall, it was pretty easy to assemble, although the instructions were obviously designed to be used with different size screens (e.g. the 125" had two upright support bars in the frame, not one as shown in the instructions.)

The screen is intended to hang directly on a wall and I'm sure the brackets supplied would have been fine. I ended up mounting mine in front of black curtains so I needed to fabricate some 9" braces to make the screen 'float' in front of the folds of the curtains. Overall, more work than expected but the result is fabulous.

This screen is perhaps more money than some alternatives out there, especially for a fixed frame, but you can certainly pay a lot more as well. I thought it was a good combination of value and performance for an screen that has no black edge on it.

"Great screen and awesome price"
"This is an awesome screen. It was super easy to put together, it took less than 20 minutes. The package arrived two days ahead of schedule and it was packed neatly and it even had instructions on how to open it. The screen performs at the same level as those expensive screens and it costs way less. I also bought the LED lights and it looks fantastic. I am using it with an Epson 5030ub.”

"Just buy already!"

"Awesome screen and worth the money! This was my first projector screen purchase as I was replacing my plasma tv. This screen is paired with the Epson 5030uBE. I was not sure whether to buy a super expensive screen ,or a really cheap one ,or middle of the road, etc. I was worried about buying this screen due to some of the reviews showing ripped edges and cheap quality, but they must have fixed that issue because my screen is great(Elite Screens Aeon, 100in, edgeless, white). It did take a good amount of time putting together as I was being careful and it was just me putting it together. The screen material is really stretchy and you may not think it will fit over the frame but I assure you it will.

The picture is amazing at night/in a dark room and is every bit as good, possibly better than my old plasma. I have no regrets buying this screen and no complaints. I would buy it again and would recommend to buy."

Q: Can I buy a small screen material sample?

A: Yes, you can buy a CineWhite® screen material sample by clicking here.

Buy a CineGrey screen material sample by clicking here.

Buy a CineGrey 3D® screen material sample by clicking here.

Q: I have a native 16:9 4K projector and a 2.35:1 cinemascope projection screen; so, do I need an anamorphic lens to view full size 16:9 content on that 2.35 screen?
A : Yes, if you are going for optimal performance and “no” if your projector has lens memory and you cannot reconcile with the cost of the anamorphic lens. Here is the difference for each.

Projecting onto a 2.35:1 screen (lens zooming): On a native 16:9 4K projector, lens memory is a pre-set feature that allows you to letterbox zoom and fit the 2.35:1 screen’s footprint. To many, this looks good enough. The bad news is that you are losing 25% (over 2,000,000) pixels. They are not gone; they just appear black to give the illusion of no longer being there. Because 25% of your pixels are out of the game and your projector is trying to stretch what is left to fill your screen, you lose 1/3 of your resolution and 25-30% of your brightness depending on the settings you choose.  It is also worth mentioning that when your projector blacks out 25% of your pixels, it absorbs the light energy which manifests itself as excess heat inside of your projector.  Over time, this excess heat will shorten your projector’s operational lifespan. Some projectors have lens memory so you can switch them at the click of a button but should the projector not have this capability, you’d have to perform this manually through your remote.

Projecting onto a 2.35:1 screen (Anamorphic lens):  In order to take full advantage of all of the pixels from your projector (maximize brightness and resolution) you will need an anamorphic lens and avoid the extra light from over spilling beyond the limits of your 2.35 screen. In other words, your projector needs an anamorphic lens to maximize your video performance.  A memory lens horizontally stretches your image while electronically upscaling your 16:9 projector’s vertical resolution. This means you get the 2.35:1 performance without losing brightness or resolution.  Because you are not running black content in letterbox mode for hours on end, this puts less wear and tear on your projector.

Other options, projecting 16:9 content onto a 2.35:1 Screen: You can still project a 16:9 image onto a 2.35 screen but the image will be smaller and you will have empty space on the sides.  No anamorphic lens is needed in this case but you would have to manually adjust for both aspect ratios when viewing 16:9 and 2.35:1 content.

Q: Can I use the AcousticPro UHD material in a room with ambient light?
A: The AcousticPro UHD performs at its best in a light controlled environment, not in a room that will have ambient light. The material is a fabric with a special weave pattern for projection use. It is suggested to go with our standard CineWhite® material if a matte white screen is needed. Or better yet, our very best CineGrey 3D® or CineGrey 5D® material will perform better with a higher gain and Angular-Reflective front projection with ambient light rejecting technology.

Q: I'm considering purchasing an Active 3D projector. What benefits are there in choosing the Airbright 3D2 or CineGrey 5D® material?
In general, the Airbight 3D2 material is beneficial to use with Active 3D projectors to combat the following.

  • Active 3D projectors lose brightness when 3D mode is activated (approximately 50% of lumens is lost)
  • More is lost when the active shutter glasses are put on. The dark tint of them block the projector's lighting. It's like trying to watch a movie with sunglasses on.

Both high gains on the Airbright 3D2 and CineGrey 5D® materials helps regain brightness levels in 3D mode, and the high gain avaialble on the Airbright 3D2 allows for some ambient light to be on without washing out the projected image as typically experienced on matte white surfaces.
The loss of brightness impacts the true home theater experience by producing a dim and bland image.  We recommend using the Airbright 3D2 for this reason.

Q: I have a 16:9 (HDTV) home theater projector but I'd like to have a presentation that has a 2.35:1 (Cinemascope) aspect ratio on a 2.35:1 projection screen.  Do I need an anamorphic lens for this?
For the best possible results, an anamorphic lens is recommended.  However, it is possible to get a 2.35:1 screen format as long as you can live with the "black bars" created when a mismatched 16:9 native aspect ratio projecto is set up to fit a wider projection screen format.  It is simply a matter of personal preference.

Q: What is the advantage of having a black velvet covered frame?
In addition to an appealing aesthetic appearance, the advantage of having a black velvet covered frame is to help absorb projector overshoot.

Q: I am assembling the Aeon Fixed Frame screen and do not see a hole for the center support however there is a center support bar included. How do I attach my center support bar?
There is a hex screw that must first be inserted on the back channel of the bottom and top frames. Then, the center support bar attaches to the hex screw.

Q: Is there a reason Elite Screens no longer offers 2.35:1 aspect ratio screens? I'm new to home theater and only watch movies in the room, not TV or sports. So, it seemed to be more dramatic to go with the 2.35:1 wide-screen format.
A: The 2.35:1 is primarily for a dedicated home cinema room. With this said, we have left this aspect ratio to our sister company EPV Screens which specializes in dedicated home theater projection screens.
